North Beach

North Beach is conveniently located, nearby the Karrinyup Shopping Centre and just a twenty minute drive from the city centre. The town sits just north of Perth on the stunning Indian Ocean coastline. This beautiful locality has a wonderful village feel and a community spirit like few others. It has come a long way with an intriguing history – it once served as a quarantine area for camels entering the colony in 1890.

The area originally formed part of the Hamersley Estate, which also included the suburbs now known as Carine, North Beach and Hamersley. These areas were owned by the Hamersley family, who arrived from Europe to settle in the Swan River Colony in 1837. They built an extravagant summer home, called “The Castle” in 1865, where their large family as well as the Perth elite congregated for summer holidays. Today it continues to be a seaside location in great demand, an ideal place for bringing up a family.
